"Established in 1923 as a brass and reed band, and revived in 2000, Fermoy Concert Band is expanding its range of instruments, which is now almost complete, to comprise a proper Concert Band. The band is currently conducted by Ruairí Dineen (MA B Mus). Fermoy Concert Band represents an important part of the cultural heritage of the region as well as an important meeting point for Senior and Young musicians.
Today the band is made up of over 70 members ranging from students to seniors, who play music in their spare time. We currently have four performing groups, streamed according to the musicians’ level of ability: a ‘Mini Mozarts’ club for pre-teen beginners; a Beginner Band for students in their early stages of development; Fermoy Youth Band, mostly for teens at intermediate level; and the senior group itself, Fermoy Concert Band.
The band offers concerts around the Munster area with a broad repertoire including popular, light classical, and wind music. Lessons are available for children and adults for a wide range of instruments. The various bands rehearse on Monday and Thursday nights in the Fermoy Parish Centre. We invite you to visit our page for more information. Or use the ‘contact us’ page to answer any specific questions you may have."
